 Prototype information
Built in Spain by Alstom around the drivetrain of the
EMD Class 66, the Class 67 was ordered by EW&S to haul fast mail trains. The fastest general-purpose locomotive ever to run in Britain, it is frequently used on charter trains and has largely replaced older
Class 47/57 locomotives in the Royal Train and "Thunderbird" roles.
