[edit] Prototype information
Heavy minerals (coal) traffic was, and remains, the backbone of many railways. Specialised engines with low costs, low speeds, and high-tractive effort are ideal for hauling heavy loads over rough terrain. The model used for PJ1K is the classic LNWR "Super D".
[edit] Similar locomotives
Similar heavy, slow locomotives with 0-8-0 or 2-8-0 wheel arrangement could be found all over the british railway system. Another notable example was the GCR Class 8K.
