The Bristol Freighter's bulbous nose and clamshell doors allowed it to be used as a car ferry between the UK and France, carrying 3 cars and their occupants faster than by sea. They were later widely used as freight aircraft in New Zealand and Canada. The rather drafty nose doors could be sealed shut for the "Wayfarer" airliner configuration.
