The ultimate British Steam locomotive, Riddles' 9F was a powerful and fast long-distance express freight and heavy passenger locomotive. They were introduced only one year before the decision was made to scrap all steam locomotives in favour of diesel power. 9F 92220 Evening Star was the last steam locomotive built by British Rail, and served for only 5 years before becoming a museum piece.
