[edit] Prototype information
The Coriolis 'Gripper' was the first monorail locomotive designed and built exclusively for Lunar service. Initially designed in Australia, the prototypes were developed at the Coriolis Industries factory in Ontario, Canada in early 2045. Components were shipped to Luna by NASA heavy lift in late 2046.
The Gripper is designed as a lightweight, relatively inexpensive locomotive for general purpose haulage duties on Luna. The locomotives can be driven remotely via satellite or by a driver. Due to the locomotive's open cabin design, remote operation is somewhat more popular.
